Geoffrey Charles Briggs was born on 19 May 1915, and was first commissioned as 2nd Lieutenant in the Lancashire Fusiliers on 19 May 1936. He was promoted Lieutenant in May 1939; Captain, May 1944; acting Major, July 1944; temp. Major, October 1944; Major, May 1949; retired 5 May 1958.
He served with the 1st Battalion Lancashire Fusiliers in China, 1936-39. Retuning to the the U.K. in 1939, he was posted to the 2nd Battalion and went to France in 1940. Successfully evacuated from Dunkirk, he was posted to the 2nd/5th Battalion in 1942. Served with them in the Normandy operations, 1944; he then took “C” Company to the 2nd Glasgow Highlanders. Postwar he served with the 1st Battalion Lancashire Fusiliers in Jordan, Egypt, Kenya and Germany. Sold with copied reseach.
