Three: Private G. E. Tong, Royal Welsh Fusiliers

George Edmund Tong was born near Newbridge-on-Wey, Breckonshire. A Platelayer by occupation, he attested for service in the 5th Battalion Royal Welsh Fusiliers, Territorial Army, on 4 August 1914. With the battalion he entered the Asiatic theatre of war on 14 July 1915. He was wounded in action in Gallipoli on 10 August 1915, suffering a gun-shot wound to the neck. As a result he was invalided to England. The remainder of his service was spent in the U.K., serving variously with the Royal Welsh Fusiliers and Royal Engineers. Sold with copied service papers.
