Joseph Hill, who was born in Reddish, Manchester and enlisted in Hyde, Cheshire, died of wounds received in the “German Spring Offensive” on 30 April 1918, while serving in the 1st Battalion, King’s Own Scottish Borderers. He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Ploegsteert Memorial, Hainaut, Belgium.
