Walter John Rogers, a native of Towcester, first entered the French theatre of war in mid-May 1915 and was awarded his M.S.M. in 1919 (London Gazette 3 June of that year refers). His subsequent award of the Imperial Service Medal was in respect of his services as a Technician (Class 1), Coventry Telephone Area (London Gazette 27 January 1953 refers).
