Walter Gooderidge was born in Bradford, Yorkshire and enlisted in the Imperial Yeomanry in January 1901, aged 20 years. He subsequently served out in South Africa from March 1901 to August 1902 and was discharged from the 4th (Glamorganshire) Company on his return to the U.K. in the following month; sold with copied service papers.
