Robert Jackson was born in Fulham, London. A Musician by occupation, he enlisted by special authority for the 69th Brigade to be trained as a Drummer or Musician on 27 June 1878, aged 14 years, 10 months. With the 18th Regiment he was appointed a Drummer in September 1879. With the regiment he served in Egypt, August 1882-February 1883; Malta, February-May 1883 and March 1884-January 1885, and India, January 1885-October 1890. He was discharged on 22 November 1890. In addition to his Egypt Medal with clasp and Khedive’s Star, he was awarded the India General Service Medal with clasp for Hazara 1888. Sold with copied service papers.
