Aaron Cock was born in the Parish of Meshaw, near South Molton, Devon, and enlisted at Exeter to serve as a Private in the Royal Marine Light Infantry, Plymouth Division, on 6 March 1830, aged 23. He took part in the operations on the coast of Syria as a Sergeant of Marines in H.M.S. Thunderer, and was invalided from that ship in February 1842. He became a 1st Class Marine in March 1844, and was discharged on 23 May 1845, suffering from chronic rheumatism and a lame ankle. Sold with copied medal roll page and R.M. Description Book entry.
