The King’s Royal Rifle Corps Militia Battalions Officer’s Busby, a fine and scarce example of the black lambskin pattern that replaced the helmet in 1890, the folding hat complete with sewn in corded and plaited lines, the crown of dark green cloth with embroidered decoration to the front, an oval corded dark green boss mounted with a blackened silver QVC, below, a large solid bronze cross with strung bugle centre and title, ‘The King’s Royal Rifle Corps’ a plinth on the top arm of the cross, ‘Celer Et Audax’ the arms of the cross plain, a red horse hair upright plume fits behind the boss, internally excellent with gold blocked retailer’s details, Hawkes & Co. 14 Piccadilly London. Chin strap not present, very good condition (1) £250-350
