Four: Lieutenant Colonel P. L. Bowers, Royal Welsh Fusiliers

Defence and War Medals; General Service 1918-62, 1 clasp, Malaya, G.VI.R. (Lt. Col., R.W.F.); Coronation 1937, very fine or better (4) £180-220

Lieutenant Colonel Patrick Lewis Bowers was born in July 1903, receiving his commission into the Royal Welsh Fusiliers in August 1923 in the rank of Second Lieutenant. Amongst other postings, he was attached to the Sudan Defence Force between January 1930 and July 1932 and served as Adjutant of the 6th (Carnarvon and Anglesey) Battalion from December 1934 to July 1938, prior to retiring from the regiment with the rank of Honorary Lieutenant Colonel in January 1954. Lieutenant Colonel Bowers died in October 1981, aged 78 years.

The G.S.M. clasp Malaya with G.VI.R. bust is possibly unique to the regiment as the Royal Welsh Fusiliers did not serve there as a unit until September 1954.
