India General Service 1854-95, 1 clasp, Perak (Lieut. J. G. Jones, R.N. H.M.S. “Charybdis”) nearly extremely fine £300-350

John George Jones joined as a Naval Cadet in August 1857 and was appointed a Sub-Lieutenant on 10 June 1863, becoming Lieutenant in June 1865. He was Lieutenant of the Charybdis during the operations in the Lingie and Lukat rivers against Malays, in the Straits of Malacca, 1874 (Perak Medal and Clasp). He became Commander in December 1878, Captain in June 1886, and retired on 13 January 1899. Advanced to Retired Rear-Admiral in August 1900, he reached his final rank as Retired Vice-Admiral in February 1905.
