Frederick Robert Sayer lived in Bethnal Green and enlisted at Hackney. He served initially with the 10th Battalion London Regiment. Serving with the 20th Battalion London Regiment, he was killed in action on 7 June 1917, aged 26 years. Having no known grave, his name is commemorated on the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial. He was the son of Frederick and Mary Sayer of 3 Sebright Street, Bethnal Green and the husband of Mrs E. Spinks, formerly Sayer, of 28 Clerkenwell Road, London, E.C.1.
