George Preston, who was born in Bolton, Lancashire, was killed in action at Passchendaele on 1 August 1917, while serving in the 3rd Battalion, Rifle Brigade. Formerly a member of the R.A.M.C., he has no known grave and is commemorated on the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial.
