Jesse Rustell, who was born in Alton, Hampshire, but resident at Newton Valence on enlistment, was killed in action in Belgium on 3 May 1915, while serving in the 4th Battalion, Rifle Brigade. He was 30 years of age, has no known grave and is commemorated on the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial.
