George Gabites, who was born at Moss Side, Manchester, died in a railway accident on 24 November 1916, while returning home for leave after 13 months in France in the 21st Battalion, Manchester Regiment (copied wartime newspaper feature refers). He was 22 years of age and is buried in Gezaincourt Communal Cemetery on the Somme.
