Daniel McIntyre, who was born in Darlington, Durham, and enlisted in Manchester - where he was a school teacher with the local Education Authority - was killed in action on the Somme on 30 July 1916, while serving in the 18th (3rd Pals) Battalion, Manchester Regiment. He was 42 years of age, has no known grave and is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial.

George Waddington, a native of Higher Broughton, and a member of the 1/7th Battalion, Manchester Regiment, died at home on 9 March 1916. He is buried in Salford Cemetery.

George Ambrose Fordesman, who was born in Bradford, Lancashire, and enlisted at Ashton-under-Lyne, died of wounds in Mesopotamia on 13 March 1916, while serving in the 1st Battalion, Manchester Regiment. He is buried in the Amara War Cemetery, Iraq.

Walter Hall, who was born in Moston, Manchester, was killed in action in Belgium on 16 August 1917, while serving in the 11th Battalion, Manchester Regiment. He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Tyne Cot Memorial.
