Albert Thirlwall, who was born in Manchester, but resident at Wilmslow, Cheshire at the time of his enlistment, was killed in action in France on 20 May 1916, while serving in the 10th Battalion, Cheshire Regiment. He was 27 years of age, has no known grave and is commemorated on the Loos Memorial.
