Queen’s South Africa 1899-1902, 1 clasp, Transvaal (7472 Pte. A. Markland, Vol. Coy. Ches. Regt.), polished, nearly very fine £60-80

Albert Markland was born in Hyde, Cheshire and enlisted in the Cheshire Regiment direct from the 4th (Volunteer) Battalion in February 1900, aged 30 years. Embarked for South Africa, he served in a Volunteer Company of the 2nd Battalion from April 1900 until July 1901, was also entitled to the “Cape Colony”, “Orange Free State” and “South Africa 1901” clasps, and was discharged on his return to the U.K. later that year.
