L.S. & G.C. medal notified in Cape Colonial Forces Order No. 429 of 2 May 1902.

Approximately 100 Cape of Good Hope Long Service and Good Conduct medals issued with Victoria obverse.

Francis Arthur Arnold Wallinger enlisted in England on 15 February 1882, aged 26. He was promoteda 1st Class Private in the Cape Mounted Rifles in May 1883, a Corporal in September 1890, a 3rd Class Sergeant in November 1895, and a 2nd Class Sergeant in April 1900. He served in the Boer War, including the defence of Wepener, and received his L.S. & G.C. medal and a Gratuity of £15 in 1902. Wallinger was discharged on 30 April 1902, as physically unfit, and was granted a pension of £75.
