D.C.M. London Gazette 3 September 1918.

‘For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. A section of his battery having suffered severe casualties, with two other men he got all the wounded to a place of safety, although under heavy shell fire at the time. He then helped to get both guns away, and was personally responsible for bringing a damaged wagon off the position. Later, when the teams came under heavy shell fire, it was principally through his efforts that guns, wagons and wounded were got away safely.’
