Alexander Cameron Young was born in Kimberley in July 1918 and enlisted in the Union Defence Force in April 1940. Embarked for Nairobi as a Signaller in No. 3 Brigade Signalling Company, S.A.S.C. in October 1940, he served in a similar capacity in North Africa from June 1941 to December 1942, when he was re-embarked for the Union. Returning to an operational footing with an appointment in 6th South African Armoured Divison’s Signalling Squadron in July 1943, he went on to witness further action in Italy, onetime being attached to 1/11 Anti-Tank Regiment, S.A.A. Young was discharged in August 1945; sold with copied service record.
