Charles Herbert Strong was appointed a Temporary 2nd Lieutenant on Probation in the R.F.C. by the London Gazette of 29 May 1917 and Temporary 2nd Lieutenant by the London Gazette of 18 August 1917. After training he was appointed to No.4 Squadron in August 1917. He relinquished his commission ‘being physically unsuited for duties of P[ilot] or O[bserver]’ in November 1918. Sold with copied service papers.
