Joseph Sheppard was born in Hinton, Wiltshire, and living in Pewsey, Wiltshire, enlisted at Swindon. Serving with the 1st Battalion Wiltshire Regiment he entered the France/Flanders theatre of war on 22 August 1914. He died in France on 18 September 1914, aged 32 years. Having no known grave, his name is commemorated on the La Ferte-sous-Jouarre Memorial. Sold with copied m.i.c. confirming clasp and other research.
