Walter Henry Newell was born and lived in Aldershot, Hampshire and enlisted at Winchester. Serving with the 1st Battalion Hampshire Regiment, he entered the France/Flanders theatre of war on 3 December 1914 and was killed in action on 13 May 1915. Having no known grave, his name is commemorated on the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial. With copied m.i.c.
