Private George Wright served in Boer War with the 2nd Battalion Hampshire Regiment. He re-enlisted on 16 September 1910. Serving with the 1st Battalion Hampshire Regiment he entered the France/Flanders theatre of war on 24 August 1914. He was ‘recommended for distinguished service, 25th April to 4th May [1915]’ for ‘taking messages under fire’. He was discharged due to wounds on 10 July 1917 and was awarded the Silver War Badge. Sold with copied roll extract, m.i.c. and other research.
