General Service 1918-62, 1 clasp, Palestine (3598606 Pte. G. Coupe, Bord. R.) nearly extremely fine £60-80

Corporal Gilbert Coupe, Border Regiment, served before the war in Palestine and during the war was at Dunkirk. Serving latterly with the Royal Army Service Corps he was discharged in April 1945 suffering from tuberculosis and granted a disability pension of £5 a week. He died on 27 December 1947, aged 28 years, in East Accrington; the coroner recording a verdict of ‘Misadventure’. He further stated that his death was due to ‘service in the forces in the recent war.’ Sold with copied newspaper obituary and C.W.G.C. extract. He was buried in Accrington Cemetery.
