Private H. Jeffcoate, 1st Battalion Royal Berkshire Regiment, entered the France/Flanders theatre of war on 13 August 1914. Serving with the 2nd Battalion he was listed as wounded in The Times of 17 June 1915. He was discharged on 24 April 1916 and was awarded the Silver War Badge.

Private G. Turrell, 1st Battalion Royal Berkshire Regiment, entered the France/Flanders theatre of war on 31 August 1914. He was awarded the
Military Medal for gallantry at Cambrai in November 1917 (London Gazette 19 March 1918). In the Berkshire Chronicle of 29 March 1918 it was reported, ‘On the 20th November 1917, a German sniper, sniped at a man, carrying a box of bombs, and exploded it. The man’s leg was practically blown off. Turrell got a pull through and bound up the man’s leg. Though wounded, he continued on duty for five hours’. Both with copied research.
