Hong Kong Plague 1894, silver issue (Private W. Phillpott, S.L.I.) edge bruising, good very fine £1000-1200

William Phillpott was born in Worfield, Bridgnorth, Shropshire. He enlisted into the Shropshire Light Infantry at Shrewsbury on 18 October 1887, aged 19 years, 5 months. As Private 2674 he served in Malta, Egypt, Hong Kong and India. He was transferred to the Army Reserve on 8 December 1895. He was recalled to service on 9 October 1899 but was discharged on 14 October.
