B.E.M. London Gazette 13 June 1959.

Recommendation states: ‘N.C.O. in charge of Composite Platoon accounts 63 Company RASC (Parachute Brigade)’. ‘When 16 Independent Parachute Brigade Group was ordered in July 1958 to Jordan, 63 Company RASC were instructed not only to make detailed issues of supplies, ammunition and petrol to both Army and Royal Air Force units, but in addition to hold and maintain the theatre reserves of all these commodities. The latter would normally, and eventually did, require the employment of static supply, ammunition and petrol units. Sergeant Morris was NCO in charge of all accounts relating to these items and although no British military organisation of any kind existed in Jordan on the day he arrived, and everything required had to be brought by air at short notice, he succeeded, by a display of great imagination, initiative and improvisation, in carrying out his duties in such a manner that the supply system at once operated, and continued to operate, throughout the time British Forces were in Jordan. He was indeed the linchpin of the RASC supply organisation and the duties which he so successfully carried out would have merited considerable praise for a warrant officer of many years seniority. For a comparitively young and junior Sergeant this work, which involved many hours of arduous calculations and constant supervision of a young and inexperienced staff, was outstanding. Throughout the four months British Forces were in Jordan Sergeant Morris, showed great zeal and devotion to duty, setting a first class example to superiors and subordinates alike’.

Morris was commissioned into the Royal Artillery and then advanced to Lieutenant in May 1961. Promoted to Captain in May 1963, he subsequently attained the rank of Major, and retired on 1 October 1973.
