A Great War M.M. group of four awarded to Serjeant G. Griffin, Scottish Rifles, killed in action in Palestine, 23 November 1917.

George Griffin was born in Old Ford, Middlesex and enlisted at Stratford. Serving with the 1st Battalion Scottish Rifles he entered the France/Flanders theatre of war on 31 August 1914. Serving with the 2nd Battalion Scottish Rifles, he was awarded the Military Medal for Bravery. When serving with the 7th Battalion, he was killed in action in Palestine on 23 November 1917. He was buried in the Jerusalem War Cemetery.
