M.C. London Gazette 18 October 1917. Citation published London Gazette 7 March 1918 ‘For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty during a raid on the enemy’s lines. He worked continually throughout an intense bombardment attending to the wounded at the aid post until they had all been attended to and evacuated. He showed great courage and devotion to duty.’

Sold with a comprehensive file of research regarding recipient and the action against the Turks at ‘Umbrella Hill’, where Captain Cunningham gained the award of his Military Cross.
