A Second World War M.B.E. group of seven awarded to Purser V. A. Luff, Merchant Navy

, M.B.E. (Civil) Member’s 2nd type breast badge, in its Royal Mint case of issue; British War and Mercantile Marine War Medals (Victor A. Luff); 1939-45 Star; Atlantic Star; Pacific Star, clasp, Burma; War Medal 1939-45, the 1939-45 issues in their addressed card forwarding box with Minister of Transport forwarding slip, generally extremely fine (7) £300-350

Victor Alfred Luff, who was born in London in May 1900 and served in the Mercantile Marine in the Great War, was also entitled to the above described 1939-45 War campaign awards and “Burma” clasp - official records refer and confirm service as a Purser in the S.S. Umgeni, a vessel of Bullard King & Company Ltd. from at least 1942. And he was serving in a similar capacity at the time of receiving his M.B.E., finally coming ashore in late 1959; sold with original M.B.E. warrant, framed and glazed.
