Mjr., A.S.C.); Army Meritorious Service Medal, G.VI.R., 3rd issue (T/9616 W.O., R.A.S.C.), note: surname spelt ‘Bockmaster’ on first two, mounted on a board, slight contact marks, very fine and better (6) £260-300

Harry Bockmaster was born in Tottenham, London on 4 October 1871. A Butcher by occupation, he attested for service in the Army Service Corps on 4 October 1890, aged 19 years, being a member of the 3rd Battalion Gloster Regiment at the time. With them he served in South Africa, October 1899-May 1902 and was promoted to Serjeant-Major in March 1906. Bockmaster was commissioned on 15 December 1914 and changed his name by deed poll to ‘Buckmaster’ in March 1917. His name was removed from the list of the Regular Army Reserve of Officers in 1926. The M.S.M. without annuity was awarded in 1953. Sold with copied service papers, deed poll and m.i.c.
