Abraham William Bate was born on 4 May 1841 and qualified as a M.D. (St. Andrews), 1962; B.A. (Dublin), 1890; M.B. & B.A.O., 1891; B.Ch., 1892; F.R.C.S.I., 1894. He was appointed a Surgeon in the Army Medical Department in March 1865 and promoted to Surgeon-Major in March 1877. He served in the Sudan during 1885 and was placed on Retired Pay with the honorary rank of Brigade Surgeon in December 1885. In 1893 his rank was changed to that of Surgeon Lieutenant-Colonel. Bate died on 22 October 1906. Sold with copied research.
