George Lackie was born in Gibraltar. A Labourer by occupation, he attested for service in the 43rd Regiment at Fredricton, New Brunswick, on 29 November 1837, aged 14 years, 7 months. With the regiment he served 8 years 5 months in North America, 2 years at the Cape of Good Hope and 8 years 9 months in the East Indies. He was awarded the South Africa Medal for service in the Third Kaffir War, 1850-53. Lackie was discharged due to medical disability on 21 April 1863, aged 40 years. Sold with copied discharge papers.
