Arctic Medal 1818-55 (Joseph Organ, Ice Qr. Master, Enterprise, Resolute, Assistance), contemporary engraved naming, edge nicks, good very fine £800-1000

Joseph Organ, who was born in Stoke Damerel, Devon in December 1824 and entered the Royal Navy in May 1843, served as Quarter-Master in the Enterprise (1848-49), as Captain’s Coxswain and Ice Quarter-Master in the Resolute (1850-51), and as Ice Quarter-Master in the Assistance (1852-54). Shortly thereafter, he served aboard H.M.S. Sanspareil in the Baltic operations 1854-55, and he was discharged ashore as a Chief Quarter-Master in December 1859.
