Francis Arthurton was born in Southwark, London. A Traveller by occupation, he attested for the Corps of Lancers on 9 October 1894, aged 22 years, 9 months. Posted to the 16th Lancers he served in India, September 1895-January 1900 and South Africa, January-December 1900. He was discharged as a consequence of being medically unfit for further service on 25 April 1901. Sold with copied service papers and roll extracts.
