Egypt and Sudan 1882-89, 1 clasp, Tel-El-Kebir (1217 Pte. G. Hill, 3/K.R. Rif. C.) some contact marks, very fine £120-160

George Hill was born in Derby. A Labourer by occupation and a member of the 1st Derbyshire Militia, he attested for service in the 60th Rifles at Derby on 25 October 1876. With the 60th Rifles, he served in Natal, February-August 1879 - for which he was awarded the South Africa Medal with clasp ‘1879’. After service at home, he returned to Natal, November 1880-February 1882, where he was employed in the 1st Boer War. Posted then to Malta, February-July 1882, he then served in Egypt where he gained the Queen’s and Khedive’s medals. He was discharged after completing his period of service in November 1888. Sold with copied service papers.
