Alfred Anthony Des Vœux was a Cadet at Addiscombe, 1847-48. Admitted into the East India Company service, he arrived in Bombay in March 1849. He served with the Persian Expeditionary Force in 1857 in command of the Left Flank Company of the 5th Regiment N.I. With the Light Batteries he was present at the Bombardment and Capture of Mohamera. He served as Commissariat Officer with the field force under General Sir Hugh Rose during the supression of the Indian Mutiny, November 1858-February 1859 and served with the Military Train during the operations in North China and the advance on Pekin during 1860. He subsequently served with his regiment in the war in Afghanistan. Sold with copied cadet and service papers.
