Baidar, or Bedar, is the name of a caste of which there are two divisions, the Karnata and the Telinga, who neither eat together nor intermarry. Formerly they were hunters and soldiers by profession; now they are employed in agriculture, labour, and as peons and village policemen (An Anglo-Indian Dictionary, by G. C. Whitworth, London, 1885, refers).
