Confirmed on Roll 7681/358: Medals Issued on 19 March 1870 'Nominal Roll of Officers, N.C. Officers and Men of the Late “J” Battery 4th Brigade, Royal Artillery, who claim the War Medal for New Zealand and who are still serving in the Royal Artillery': 2 Battery, Coast Brigade, Gunner Edward Singer, At the period the Medal was earned: Regt. No. 3253, Rank Corporal, Record of Service in the Field on which the claim is founded stating actions etc., '1860 to Feb 1865'.

Only 3 medals with the 1860 to 1865 dated reverse were awarded to the Royal Artillery. Edward Singer served for nearly the whole of the Second New Zealand War and was promoted to Corporal in February 1865.
