Ex Gaskell Collection 1911, Couts Collection 1921, and Phillips Collection 1925.

John Barlow was born at Bray, County Wicklow. He enlisted into the 17th Light Dragoons on 25 December 1810, and served with that regiment in the East Indies from May 1812. In July 1822 he transferred to the 16th Lancers and continued in the East Indies until his discharge at Meerut on 5 October 1827. He was finally discharged at Horse Guards on 22 May 1820, in consequence of ‘injury of the chest and shoulder and general weakness.’ Sold with copy discharge papers.
