Oxford mint, Pattern Shilling, 1644, unsigned [by T. Rawlins], in silver, mm. Shrewsbury plume on obv. only, bust in armour with lion’s head on shoulder, rev. Declaration between scrolls, three Shrewsbury plumes above, date and ox below, lozenge stops both sides with group of four before rev. legend, 5.81g/9h (SCBI Brooker –; Morr. F-9; N 2712). Struck on a full flan, some adjustment marks both sides and flan flawed on reverse between 12 and 1 o’clock, otherwise very fine and toned, extremely rare (£4,000-5,000)
