Short Seaplane 1914, a large fragment of canvas cut from the tailplane of a Short Seaplane, approx 54 x 12 inches, painted in red, white and blue bands, with contemporary indelible pencil inscription, ‘1340 relict of Short Seaplane (tail) 140 HP Canton One engine, First British Raid over Cuxhaven, Xmas 1914’ has been folded with consequent flaking and loss of paint, but basically in good condition and a rare survival £250-300

On Christmas day 1914, a small force of British seaplanes, nine aircraft in all, carried out an attack on the German Airship base at Cuxhaven, the world’s first carrier based airstrike.
