A 1796 pattern Light Cavalry Officer’s sword, the curved flat-solid section 79cm blade back-edged for the last 28cm, undecorated but for the engraved legend ‘A faithful servant in the hands of the brave’ and on the reverse ‘Often drawn in the defence of my country, but never returned without glory’, steel stirrup guard, facetted back-strap and pommel, shield shaped langets, wood black leather covered grip bound with twisted silver wire, complete with its steel scabbard with two hanging rings, minor service wear, otherwise good condition overall £300-400
