A Victorian officer's presentation sword of the Bebington Company 1st Cheshire Rifle Volunteers, 1827 pattern rifle regiment officers sword, the slightly curved 81cm blade by G. Kenning, London, Manchester, Liverpool & Glasgow etched with crowned VR strung bugle foliate scrolls etc., and within a panel a long presentation inscription 'Presented to Major Alfred Ferguson by the officers, non commissioned officers & privates of the 4th. Bebington Company 1st. Cheshire Rifle Volunteers on his promotion after service of 22 years as a tribute of their highest esteem and in warm appreciation of the admirable manner in which he commanded the Company during the 10 years of his Captaincy, May 1882', silver plated regulation steel hilt incorporating a strung bugle fish-skin covered grip bound with copper wire, complete with its silver plated scabbard, several small areas of pitting to blade otherwise good condition £350-400
