A good Royal Navy officer’s sword for an officer of flag rank, the curved 74cm pipe-back blade by H. Blackmore, 55 Brook Street, Bond Street, London, finely etched with Royal Arms, fouled anchor, foliate scrolls etc, regulation solid half-basket guard incorporating a crowned fouled anchor, folding side guard, lions head pommel, fish-skin covered grip bound with copper wire, hilt retaining its original gold & blue bullion sword knot, complete with its black leather scabbard with copper-gilt locket and chape, the former fitted with two opposed suspension rings, both mounts chased with bands of oakleaves, hilt and scabbard mounts retaining almost all original gilding, minor staining to blade, scabbard stitching fragile £350-400
