An unusual Caucasian shasqua, possibly Turkestan, the heavy flat curved 78cm blade back-edged for the last 25cm having double grooves to one side and double recurving grooves to the other, two gold inlaid cartouches appear on one side filled with Persian script and an indistinct arabic date, to the reverse side a panel of Persian script probably a couplet of poetry, hilt mounts of iron pierced through with a lattice design, and chiselled with a floral border, backstrap with chiselled decoration en-suite, ivory grip plaques secured by three iron rivets the heads again decorated en-suite, good condition overall £1000-1200
