Scotland, Meigle School, a hollow engraved silver award by Hamilton & Inches, named (Dux Girl, Lissie Keith, 1904), rev. engraved (Presented by Lady Campbell-Bannerman), hallmarked Edinburgh 1903, 45mm (Brodie 669, this piece). Extremely fine, lightly toned; with ornate clip and ring for suspension (£30-40)

Sarah, Lady Campbell-Bannerman (1836-1906), wife of the British prime minister Henry Campbell-Bannerman, whose family seat was at Belmont Castle, Perthshire. ‘A rather plain, stout woman’, she was wracked by illness in the last years of her life and is buried at Meigle churchyard
