In this same gazette the award of the D.S.C. was announced to Flight Sub-Lieutenant Edward Robert Barker, R.N.A.S., ‘For services in an air raid on the Solway works at Zeebrugge on the night of 15-16 July 1917. Bombs were dropped on the objective with good results.’

Harry Dixon was born in Machelle, Africa, on 28 January 1897. A Draughtsman by occupation, he enlisted into the R.N.A.S. as a Petty Officer Mechanic on 11 February 1915. Based at Dunkirk, 25 April-28 August 1917, he was awarded the D.S.M. whilst serving there with No.7 Squadron, 3rd Wing R.N.A.S. Dixon was appointed a Probationary Flight Officer on 2 September 1917 and a Temporary Flight Sub Lieutenant on 6 March 1918. Based at the School of Aerial Fighting at Ayr, he was killed in a flying accident on 4 April 1918. He was buried in Kensal Green (St. Mary’s) Roman Catholic Cemetery. Sold with copied service papers.
