Demetrius C. Robson completed his 22 year service in February 2005, attaining the rank of Warrant Officer 2nd Class; his last posting being with the M.O.D. Hospital Unit in Northallerton.

In 1990 Sergeant Robson, R.A.P.C., was part of the British Liaison Team in Kuwait. With the Iraqi invasion on 2 August 1990, Robson and his wife were trapped in their flat in Kuwait City. There they survived only because their Kuwaiti neighbours kept them supplied with food and water. After a month they were discovered and arrested. Separated, his wife was taken to Baghdad and he was taken firstly to a dam as a human shield but was moved several times during his period of captivity. Following the visit of the Rev. Jessie Jackson’s, his wife, together with other women and children held hostage were released. Robson was released on New Years Eve. Sold with a group photograph of the British Liaison Team including Sergeant Robson and copied typed notes derived from Robson’s experiences in Iraq.
